#Nvivo 8.0 trial#
Required: You will need to bring your own computer with the trial version of NVivo 8.0 loaded onto it. In addition, participants will have an opportunity to work with their own data.
#Nvivo 8.0 code#
Participants will learn to create a project, identify appropriate methods to code their data, and apply these methods within NVivo.
#Nvivo 8.0 how to#
The workshop will teach you how to apply both inductive and deductive approaches to data analysis within the NVivo program. (I am assuming this is the calculation variance related to the the fact that we count 'characters' in this analysis rather than paragraphs or even selected coded text). This introductory workshop offers applied and hands-on approaches to working with NVivo 8.0 software. What the coding comparison report said was that there was 76.35% agreement. Intuitively I would think that they are in agreement over only 25% of the text. My user B identity also coded this paragraph as X but also coded the other three paragraphs as X. My User A identity in project A coded 1 paragraph of 4 paragraphs as X. To try to understand this better I created two more trial projects with only on small piece of text. There seems to be little relationship between my 'agreement' column and my data. I have chosen all sources as my scope and checked both the Kappa and the Agreement boxes. I have again indicated I just want to compare Free Nodes. I have then run a coding comparison query selecting user group A and user group B. I have selected only Free Nodes as the project items to import. I imported my colleagues project into a copy of my project. We have now each coded 20 of our transcripts and want to do an inter-rater comparison.
Two coders are working on identical transcripts on two different computers coding to a list of (14 or so) initial codes. I am confused as to how I can make the coding comparison query work. I would like to add my questions to this post.
